Massachusetts State Trooper taken to hospital following ‘accidental discharge’ of weapon

A Massachusetts State Police trooper was transported to the hospital on Wednesday night after an “accidental discharge” of a weapon, according to officials.

The incident occurred in the State Police Mounted Unit barn in Acton. According to State Police, the trooper was hurt when his service pistol accidentally went off.

State Police say the trooper was brought to Lahey Hospital in Burlington with injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening.

The incident is being investigated.
