Body found in burned van in Berks County under investigation, officials say

Authorities are investigating after crews discovered a person’s body inside a burned-out vehicle Tuesday, according to the Berks County Coroner’s Office.

Officials responded to the 400 block of Friedensburg Road in Oley, Pennsylvania, at about 9:43 a.m. Tuesday, May 26, after receiving reports of a van fire.

After firefighters extinguished the flames, officials found a person’s body in the back of the van and called the Berks County Coroner to the scene.

Authorities have not identified the person. Officials scheduled an autopsy for Thursday, May 28, as investigators work to learn more about the case.

The investigation remains ongoing.
