A Jefferson County woman’s major lottery victory has rekindled her family’s desire to travel.
Cynthia Bader played the Kentucky Lottery’s “Elephant King Jackpots” Instant Play game online for $1. “I told myself, ‘Once I get down to 25 cents, I’m done,'” she told lottery officials. “I was just playing for fun.”
Bader admits she almost played a different game, but “I like elephants.” For some reason, I decided, ‘I’m going to do elephants tonight,'” she explained.
Bader’s $1 bet resulted in a spectacular win of over $261,400, proving the value of intuition. “I yelled so loud,” she recounted.
Lottery officials said the award reminded her of her family’s years-long desire to travel the country together.
During COVID, she stated that her family packed up their child and dog, got into their vehicle, and went 9,000 miles across the western United States.
After paying taxes, Bader received about $189,000. “We want to do it again, but this time in an RV,” she explained. “This makes that possible.”
