The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) confirmed that a smoke shop employee was arrested after an undercover agent made numerous purchases in Baltimore County.
Kareem Abdallah has been charged with federal possession with intent to distribute and federal possession of a machine gun.
According to the federal agency, Abdallah worked at King of Smoke in Arbutus, Baltimore County.
According to an ATF representative, an undercover agent conducted five undercover buys from the employee and ultimately purchased the following:
- Ten firearms, including three machine guns
- 2,600 suspected fentanyl pills
- One pound suspected methamphetamine
- Three ounces of suspected cocaine
Back in March, Baltimore City State’s Attorney Ivan Bates spoke with FOX45 News about the growing worry about smoke shops in the city after two of them were raided by federal agents and a third was the location of a double shooting.
Bates stated that his agency was working more closely with federal colleagues, as well as the Maryland Alcohol, Tobacco, and Cannabis Commission.
According to court documents, Abdallah is still in detention and has a court date scheduled for next week.
