A teenage boy has been hospitalized following a shooting in a residential neighborhood in Chicago’s western suburbs, according to authorities.
Carol Stream police responded at 10 a.m. Tuesday to a shooting report at a residence in the 500 block of Alton Court in the Newport Villages community.
Officers arrived and discovered the teen had been shot. He was conscious and breathing at the time.
The boy was brought to a neighboring hospital, where his injuries were deemed non-life-threatening, according to authorities.
Authorities have not revealed what prompted the shooting. Police say they suspect it happened inside the house.
Officials also stated that the gunshot looks to be an isolated event and poses no ongoing threat to the public.
