A Clark County man is now facing several charges after police said he drove intoxicated through a park last week, passing through areas where children and families had gathered.
The Charlestown Police Department stated that Wayne Schultz allegedly drove from Seymour, Indiana, to Greenway Park in Charlestown, Indiana, on Friday, April 10, while under the influence.
Police said Schultz drove his vehicle off-road through the park while multiple families were present. He then allegedly crossed a basketball court where children were playing before trying to drive up a hill.
A witness called 911, and officers later found Schultz’s vehicle in a nearby parking lot. Police arrested him after determining probable cause for driving while intoxicated.
According to police, Schultz was “uncooperative, resistive, and made multiple threats toward law enforcement.” Authorities also said he battered an officer.
Schultz was booked into the Clark County Jail and appeared for a preliminary hearing on April 15.
He now faces multiple charges, including felony resisting law enforcement, criminal recklessness, intimidation, and battery against a public safety official, along with several misdemeanor counts, including operating while intoxicated.
