$750K in gold, $100K in jewelry stolen from Rockcastle County home; two arrested

Authorities in Rockcastle County are investigating a residential burglary after thieves stole thousands of dollars’ worth of gold and jewelry from a home.

The Rockcastle County Sheriff’s Office reported that the burglary involved large quantities of gold and silver bars, coins, and other valuables taken from the residence.

Authorities say $750,000 in gold and an additional $100,000 in jewelry were taken, according to the Rockcastle County sheriff.

An arrest warrant states that a woman told police that “some one had entered her home and taken $750,000 in coins, gold and silver bars, 7 to 10 guns, and $100,000 in jewelry.”

The warrant also states that William Daniel Martin told police a homeowner had hired him and another individual to move property from her residence to a home in another town.

The sheriff confirmed that deputies have arrested two people in connection with the burglary, Martin and Kristopher Fletcher.

Martin is being held at the Rockcastle County Detention Center, while Fletcher is in custody at the Boyle County jail.

Both men currently face charges of receiving stolen property valued at $10,000 or more.

Officials say additional arrests could still be made.
