A suspect in a reported robbery is hospitalized after police say he barricaded himself and shot himself following a vehicle pursuit through downtown Louisville, according to a Louisville Metro Police official.
LMPD Major Joe Nett said First Division officers were dispatched to the 1000 block of West Broadway to investigate a reported robbery involving an individual. Officers received a description of the suspect’s vehicle and located it shortly afterward.
“A short vehicle pursuit ensued and the vehicle came to final rest at 22nd [Street] and Garland [Avenue],” Nett said. “At that time, the subject in the vehicle barricaded himself inside the vehicle with a firearm. A short time later, the subject shot himself.”
The man was transported to UofL Hospital, where his condition remains unknown.
The investigation is being handled by LMPD’s Public Integrity Office.
