An Elizabethtown man who sent a text apology after raping a woman has pleaded guilty.
Kevin T. Cox, 52, pleaded guilty Tuesday to first-degree rape.
According to The News-Enterprise, the incident occurred while Cox was at the victim’s home doing laundry. Authorities said he had been drinking alcohol and using THC vapes.
After the assault, Cox texted the victim, apologizing “and that he was too drunk to remember what happened,” according to the arrest citation, The News-Enterprise reports.
Elizabethtown police arrested him on July 29, 2025.
Cox faced up to 20 years in prison, but under a plea agreement, the court will sentence him to 10 years in June.
He is currently being held at the Hardin County Detention Center.
