Three hospitalized after early morning house fire in Louisville’s Jacobs neighborhood

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Three people were taken to the hospital after a house fire early Tuesday in the Jacobs neighborhood.

Louisville Fire Capt. Donovan Sims said the fire broke out around 4:30 a.m. on Kahlert Avenue, near Interstate 264 and Taylor Boulevard.

According to Sims, the family woke up to flames in the basement. Firefighters brought the blaze under control within about 10 minutes.

Eight people inside the home were able to evacuate before crews arrived.

Three individuals suffered non-life-threatening injuries while escaping and were transported to the hospital, Sims said.

The Louisville Metro Arson Bureau is investigating the cause of the fire.
