LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Two dogs died after a fire broke out Sunday night at a home in south Louisville.
Louisville Fire Capt. Donovan Sims said crews responded around 11:56 p.m. to a fire in the 300 block of West Southside Court.
Sims said the flames spread to two homes, both of which were heavily involved. Two vehicles parked between the homes also caught fire.
Firefighters faced limited access while battling the blaze due to downed power lines in the driveway.
No people were found inside the homes, but seven adults and two children were displaced.
Crews removed two dogs from one of the homes, but they died from smoke and heat exposure.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
