A traffic stop in Hopkinsville on Wednesday afternoon led to drug charges for a Louisville man.
Hopkinsville Police said officers pulled over a vehicle driven by 32-year-old John Garner on South Clay Street for a seat belt violation. During the stop, officers discovered his license was suspended and he did not have proof of insurance.
Police said Garner gave consent to search the vehicle, where officers found a bag of suspected methamphetamine. He reportedly claimed the substance was not his.
Authorities arrested Garner and charged him with failure to produce an insurance card, failure to wear a seat belt, possession of meth, and operating on a suspended or revoked license.
