A lost hiker was safely rescued from Jefferson Memorial Forest after a two-hour search late Wednesday night.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A lost hiker was safely rescued overnight following a two-hour search in Jefferson Memorial Forest, the Fairdale Fire Protection District announced Thursday.
Fire and EMS crews responded around 10 p.m. Wednesday after receiving reports of a lost hiker in the forest. Officers with Louisville Metro Police and the Louisville Metro Emergency Services Drone Unit also assisted in the search.
Crews located the hiker around midnight and safely guided the person out of the woods. EMS evaluated the hiker at the scene.
The Fairdale Fire Protection District is reminding hikers what to do if they become lost: Call 911 immediately, try to remember the last trail marker you passed, and if you are near a trail marker, remain there and wait for emergency crews to arrive.
