Expect high winds and possible heavy downpours
Strong to severe thunderstorms may develop late Wednesday.
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – First Alert Weather Days are possible tonight and again on Wednesday. Several rounds of strong thunderstorms may move through the area this evening, overnight, and again during the day Wednesday.
NEXT 24 HOURS
The first round of storms is currently moving across southwest Middle Tennessee. These storms are expected to exit the Midstate by 7 p.m. Heavy rain and strong winds will be the main threats. Overnight storms could also produce hail.
Another round of thunderstorms is expected overnight, bringing gusty winds and heavy rain. These storms should clear the area by dawn. The overnight low will be around 63.
Tomorrow will be partly sunny, with a few showers and thunderstorms possible mainly in northwest Middle Tennessee and southern Kentucky.

AFTERNOON – Partly sunny and warmer, with some showers and thunderstorms in southwest Middle Tennessee. High near 76.
THIS EVENING – Mostly cloudy with scattered rain and some strong thunderstorms, mainly in southwest Middle Tennessee. Temperatures will fall into the 60s.
TOMORROW’S FORECAST
MORNING – Mostly cloudy with a low around 63.
AFTERNOON – A mix of clouds and sunshine with a chance of a stray shower or rumble of thunder, mainly in northwest Middle Tennessee and southern Kentucky. Highs Tuesday will reach the upper 70s and could approach 80.
EVENING – A few more storms may develop in northwest Middle Tennessee, with the potential for heavy rain and strong winds.
FIRST ALERT WEATHER DAY – WEDNESDAY
A strong cold front will increase the risk of strong to severe storms across Middle Tennessee and southern Kentucky late Wednesday afternoon and into the evening.
The current severe threat is rated level 2 out of 5 for the entire Midstate. Heavy rain and strong winds are the main concerns, though large hail and an isolated tornado cannot be ruled out with any storm.
THURSDAY AND FRIDAY
Temperatures will drop back into the 50s on Thursday with increasing afternoon sunshine. Friday will turn warmer again with highs near 70 under partly cloudy skies.
THIS WEEKEND
Saturday looks excellent with highs in the low to mid-70s and mostly sunny skies.
Sunday will also be mostly sunny with highs in the mid to upper 70s. A stray thunderstorm could develop Sunday afternoon, but most areas are expected to stay dry.
