LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) – Central High School was placed on a temporary lockdown Wednesday morning after a suspicious person was seen attempting to enter the school building.
A letter sent to Central families by the school district said JCPS police officers on routine patrol were notified by school administrators about a suspicious individual outside the front entrance trying to get inside.
Derrick Mosley, 33, of Louisville, was arrested after his attempt to enter a JCPS school building triggered the lockdown.
According to the arrest citation, when JCPS police confronted Mosley, they told him to remain outside the building. Instead, he ran past officers toward the internal security checkpoint. Because it was unclear whether Mosley was armed, officers drew their weapons and ordered him to the ground.
Mosley was taken into custody and booked into Louisville Metro Corrections on charges of criminal trespassing and disorderly conduct. He is scheduled to be arraigned Thursday morning.
Central’s principal said all students were safely moved to the cafeteria and large gym during the lockdown. No students or staff members were injured.
