Former Louisville-area football standout and NFL wide receiver Rondale Moore died Saturday in southern Indiana. He was 25.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — According to the Floyd County Coroner’s Office, emergency crews responded at 5:27 p.m. to the 1600 block of Ekin Avenue in New Albany, Indiana.

Moore was found in a garage at that address and transported to Baptist Health Floyd, where he was pronounced dead shortly after 6 p.m.

Police said his death is suspected to be a suicide. The New Albany Police Department and the Floyd County Coroner’s Office are investigating.

Moore played two seasons at New Albany High School before transferring to Trinity High School to finish his prep career. He later became a standout at Purdue University under current University of Louisville head coach Jeff Brohm. Moore won the Paul Hornung Award as the nation’s most versatile player.

Brohm shared a statement Saturday on X, praising Moore’s character and work ethic while offering condolences to his family.

“Rondale Moore was a complete joy to coach,” Brohm wrote. “Rondale had a work ethic unmatched by anyone.”

Moore was selected in the second round of the 2021 NFL Draft by the Arizona Cardinals. He spent last season on injured reserve with the Minnesota Vikings after suffering another injury in a career impacted by multiple setbacks.
