Second medical cannabis dispensary in Kentucky to open in Lexington
FRANKFORT, Ky. (WBKO) — Four additional licensed medical cannabis dispensaries are opening across the Commonwealth of Kentucky.
The Kentucky Cannabis Industry Alliance (KCIA) announced the expansion on Thursday.
“These openings mark an important step toward building a functional, patient-centered medical cannabis system in Kentucky,” said Rachel Roberts, executive director of KCIA, in a release. “Each new dispensary brings improved access, choice, and geographic coverage for patients across the state.”
Two new dispensaries are now open to registered patients:
Blue Sage – 172 Imperial Way, Nicholasville, KY
Green Releaf – 1900 Murphy Avenue Ext., Ferguson, KY
Two more dispensaries are scheduled to open this weekend:
nuEra – 325 Leonardwood Dr., Frankfort, KY, opening Friday, Jan. 30
Kentucky Alternative Care – 2401-B Bardstown Rd., Louisville, KY, opening Saturday, Jan. 31
These locations will join dispensaries already serving Kentucky patients, including:
The Post – 300 N. Main St., Beaver Dam, KY
Speakeasy – 1849 Alysheba Way, Lexington, KY
KCIA also confirmed that Kentucky dispensaries are expected to offer the state’s first medical cannabis gummies as early as next week, pending final inventory deliveries and regulatory approval.
Edible products are among the most anticipated options for patients seeking vapor-free treatment alternatives.
According to KCIA, Kentucky’s medical cannabis program allows qualified patients to access state-regulated, lab-tested products for conditions such as cancer, chronic pain, PTSD, epilepsy, and other approved diagnoses.
Additional dispensary, processor, and cultivation openings are expected in the coming weeks as licensees complete final inspections and approvals.
