What You Need To Know
The average price per gallon in west central Kentucky rose four cents this week to $2.580, AAA said.
The national average also increased by six cents to $2.88 per gallon.
Despite the rise, the national average remains 24 cents lower than it was a year ago.

AAA reported that the national average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline climbed six cents over the past week to $2.88. Even with the increase, prices remain 24 cents below last year’s levels.

The uptick comes as Kentucky and much of the country deal with harsh winter conditions, including heavy snowfall over the weekend and several days of bitter cold.

AAA said new data from the Energy Information Administration shows gasoline demand fell last week from 8.30 million barrels per day to 7.83 million barrels per day. During the same period, domestic gasoline supply rose from 251 million barrels to 257 million barrels. Gasoline production also declined last week, averaging 8.8 million barrels per day.

AAA added that the national average cost per kilowatt hour of electricity at a public EV charging station remains steady at 38 cents.

Here is a look at the average price of unleaded self-serve gasoline in select cities, according to AAA:

Bowling Green — $2.630
Elizabethtown — $2.472
Louisville — $2.654
Owensboro — $2.475
Paducah — $2.668
