LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The United States Postal Service officially unveiled a Muhammad Ali Commemorative Forever Stamp on Jan. 15, 2026, honoring the late boxing legend and humanitarian in his hometown of Louisville.
The dedication ceremony was held at L&N Federal Credit Union Stadium, drawing a large crowd of community members, sports figures, and longtime friends of Ali. Lonnie Ali, the boxing icon’s widow, pulled the ceremonial string to reveal the stamp and spoke about her late husband’s lifelong commitment to kindness, compassion, and service to others.
“These stamps are a reminder that kindness is powerful,” Lonnie Ali told the audience, reflecting on the values her husband practiced both inside and outside the ring.
Speakers at the event included NBC sports announcer Bob Costas, renowned photographer Neil Leifer, and John Ramsey, a close friend of Ali for more than four decades. Ramsey shared personal memories, including the final gesture Ali made to him before his death, emphasizing that Ali’s humanity left as much of an impact as his championship titles.
Actor Jaalen Best, who will portray Ali in the upcoming Prime Video series The Greatest, also appeared at the ceremony, mimicking one of Ali’s iconic poses. Lonnie Ali serves as an executive producer on the series.
Following the unveiling, USPS employees helped attendees purchase the commemorative stamps, which are now available nationwide.
The event served as both a celebration of Ali’s legacy and a reminder of Louisville’s deep connection to one of the most influential figures in sports and global culture.
