LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Police have arrested a 25-year-old man in connection with a shooting that injured another man Monday in Louisville’s Southside neighborhood.

Louisville Metro Police charged Caleb Elder with first-degree assault following the incident, which happened just before 5 p.m. on Jan. 7 near East Kingston Avenue and Teresa Place. Officers arrived to find a man suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg. He was taken to UofL Hospital and is expected to survive.

According to Elder’s arrest citation, he and the victim were involved in a fight inside a car when Elder allegedly pulled out a gun and fired. Police said the bullet shattered the victim’s femur.

Detectives later located Elder’s vehicle and reported finding the victim’s wallet inside during the investigation.

Elder was arrested Wednesday, pleaded not guilty in court, and a judge set his bond at $50,000.
