LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) — A teenager was hospitalized following a shooting in the St. Denis neighborhood on Jan. 5.

Louisville police said officers were called just before 4 p.m. to the area of Dover Road and Benoch Avenue after receiving reports of a shooting. When officers arrived, they found evidence that a shooting had occurred but did not locate a victim at the scene.

Police later learned from Shively officers that they had found a boy, believed to be 17 years old, suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg near Crums Lane and Dixie Highway. Authorities said the teen was attempting to get to the hospital by private means.

EMS responded and transported the teen to the hospital, where his injuries were described as non-life-threatening.
