Grocery giant Kroger announced plans for a $391 million distribution center in Simpson County, Kentucky, which is expected to generate around 430 new jobs.
The new facility will feature automated technologies and the capacity to scale, joining Kroger’s existing four manufacturing and distribution sites in Kentucky, along with its regional headquarters in Louisville. Additionally, Kroger-owned bakery Country Oven recently unveiled a $200 million expansion in Bowling Green.
The project qualifies for up to $12 million in tax incentives over a 15-year agreement and can recoup up to $1 million in sales and use taxes tied to construction and equipment.
Based in Cincinnati, Kroger is the nation’s largest traditional grocer and currently employs over 19,000 people in Kentucky.
