KENTUCKY — A routine traffic stop by the Georgetown Police Department on Monday turned into a major drug bust, officials said.

Officers spotted a vehicle heading south on Interstate 75 on Dec. 1 and noticed several traffic violations. When they tried to pull the vehicle over, both the driver and passenger allegedly attempted to run.

During the short chase, officers said they saw the occupants throwing “quantities of suspected narcotics” out the window. The vehicle eventually stopped, and both suspects were taken into custody without further issues.

A search of the vehicle revealed a pill press, suspected cocaine, roughly $10,300 in cash, and various pieces of drug paraphernalia, according to police.

Authorities have not released the names of the two individuals as the investigation remains ongoing.
