Person accused of killing infant in N.J. apprehended in Pa.

A person wanted for allegedly killing their 2-month-old child in Bayonne City, New Jersey, was apprehended last week in Mount Carmel.

The U.S. Marshall Service Fugitive Task Force and Mount Carmel Boro Police detained Jason Megaro, 27, of Mount Carmel, on Tuesday, August 11.

Megaro was wanted on a homicide warrant in Hudson County, New Jersey, for causing significant bodily injury that resulted in the death of their child in March, according to New Jersey court filings.

According to the documents, the infant suffered several skull fractures, hemorrhage around both optic nerves, and other injuries.

According to Mount Carmel Police, Megaro was taken to the Northumberland County Jail on Wednesday to await extradition to New Jersey.

Megaro faced charges of aggravated manslaughter and endangering the welfare of a child.

Janae Vazquez is mentioned as a co-defendant in court filings.
