Florida Man Takes Home $1.17M Lump Sum On $10 Lottery Scratch-Off Ticket

The Florida Lottery reported that a 58-year-old Kenneth City man won the top prize of $2 million after purchasing a winning scratch-off ticket at a nearby convenience store.

Charles Cuozzo collected his win from the “SCORCHING HOT 7s” scratch-off game on May 1 at the Lottery’s Tampa District Office. State lottery authorities confirmed that Cuozzo chose to accept his winnings in a single, lump-sum payment of $1,172,000.00.

Cuozzo purchased the $10 ticket at Golden Food, located at 6774 46th Avenue North in Saint Petersburg.

The $10 SCORCHING HOT 7s game has four top prizes of $2 million, with the overall game odds of winning any prize being 1-in-3.39.

Under Chapter 24 of the Florida Statutes, all lottery winners’ names and places of residence are public record and must be released within 90 days.

According to the agency, since its beginning in 1988, the Florida Lottery has produced more than $51 billion for state education initiatives and provided Bright Futures Scholarships for over a million students. Over the same period, the lottery has paid out more than $110 billion in total rewards and produced over 4,900 millionaires.
