A desperate search has resulted in heartbreak.
A missing Maryland woman, whose slow, unsteady walk was captured on surveillance camera days before her disappearance, was discovered dead inside a vacant Baltimore building, authorities said Monday.
Darlene Campbell, 72, was found dead on Monday, June 29, inside a building in Baltimore’s 1900 block of Greenmount Avenue.
Baltimore Police had been searching for Campbell since she went missing near the 300 block of East 28th Street.
Days earlier, investigators published security video of Campbell wandering alone on a sidewalk, hoping that someone might recognize her and assist in her return home.
Instead, the hunt resulted in the finding of her remains.
Campbell’s body was transported to Maryland’s Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, where an autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause and manner of her death, according to police.
Investigators have not provided any other information about Campbell’s death, and the investigation is still ongoing.
Anyone with knowledge is encouraged to call Baltimore police.
