A Leesburg woman was apprehended following a domestic disturbance at a local hotel that police say escalated into violence, with both parties presenting conflicting versions to responding authorities.
Paige Lynn Farley, 27, was apprehended on Wednesday and faces felony counts including false imprisonment, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and simple violence.
According to an arrest affidavit filed by the Leesburg Police Department, officers responded to a motel soon before 7 a.m. after receiving a report of a battery. The subsequent investigation revealed a major disparity between Farley’s statements and those of her domestic partner.
Farley told detectives that the fight began at 3 a.m., when she was awakened by the victim, who accused her of infidelity with her former spouse. Farley claimed that as she sought to grab the keys to their rental vehicle and exit the room, her boyfriend allegedly stood between her and the keys, brandishing a knife. She claimed she was injured on her inner left forearm while attempting to block the hit.
However, the victim gave police a contradicting story. He informed investigators that he confronted Farley over messages found on her phone. According to the affidavit, he claims Farley became physically hostile, slapping and scratching him. He alleged she then threatened him with a tiny kitchen knife, which he disarmed and placed on a pile of towels.
The victim further claimed that Farley tried to physically imprison him in the room by pushing a refrigerator to block the door. He informed authorities that as he tried to go past the appliance to flee, Farley pushed it into him, leaving a wound on his left leg.
The police investigation’s findings eventually led to physical evidence that authorities said did not support Farley’s account of events.
The officer who processed the scene stated in the affidavit that the cut on Farley’s inner forearm appeared to contradict her allegation of utilizing a defensive posture to deflect a strike. Officers, on the other hand, discovered several injuries on the victim, including scratches, nail marks, and a fresh cut on his thigh, which investigators found supported his claim.
Police reportedly interviewed a hotel employee who described hearing constant noise from the room throughout the night and seeing Farley chase the victim. Officers also found a knife in the room near a white couch, which matched the victim’s description.
When authorities asked Farley to explain her statement, she became aggressive and refused to provide any other information, according to the arrest record.
Farley received medical clearance at a local hospital before being transferred to the Lake County Jail. She is expected to appear in court on July 20.
