Phoenix police apprehended three suspects and are searching for two others after an armed robbery with firearms early Sunday morning.
According to the Phoenix Police Department, police arrived shortly before 5 a.m. to multiple reports of gunfire near 16th Street and Broadway Road.
When authorities arrived, they spoke with an adult man, who told them he had been shot with a firearm by a gang of suspects who had stolen his belongings. Police said the suspects fired shots as they left in various vehicles.
Officers found one of the suspicious vehicles around 7th Avenue and Apache Avenue.
When cops attempted to stop the vehicle, the occupants fled, according to police. Officers erected a perimeter and detained three individuals throughout the hunt.
Police said they are still looking for two more suspects and expect a large law enforcement presence near both the crime scene and the location where the vehicle was found.
Phoenix police say the victim’s injuries are not life-threatening.
The investigation is underway.
