15-year-old Girl And Her 1-year-old Son Located Safe In Houston After Local Amber Alert

Two children at the center of a statewide AMBER Alert out of Bexar County earlier this week have been located safe in Houston, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

DPS said 15-year-old Escarleth Vasquez and 1-year-old Alejandro Vasquez, both of Converse, were apprehended Thursday, June 25, 2026, after investigators tracked a suspect vehicle to an apartment complex in the Houston region.

DPS said its Criminal Investigations Division began aiding with the missing persons investigation on June 22, 2026, at the request of the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services. As part of the investigation, DPS special agents sought a statewide AMBER Alert, which reportedly resulted in thousands of tips.

According to the DPS, investigators used data from automated license plate readers to track a suspect car that traveled to Converse and then back to the Houston-area apartment complex. DPS CID special agents in San Antonio worked with DPS CID in Houston to react to the complex, where the children were found safe, according to the agency.

DPS stated that the investigation is underway and that no other information was available. The organization stated that inquiries about DFPS custody cases or measures taken prior to DPS involvement should be directed to DFPS.
