Police arrested a 78-year-old landlord in Miami after he allegedly used a machete to attack a tenant, according to officials.
Victor Rodriguez Polledo was taken into custody Wednesday and charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, Miami-Dade jail records showed.
An arrest report stated that officers responded to the 1900 block of Southwest 17th Street after receiving a 911 call reporting that a landlord had assaulted a tenant with a machete.
Officers detained Rodriguez Polledo at the scene and found the victim bleeding from his right arm while holding a piece of clothing against his wrist, according to the report.
The victim told police that he and Rodriguez Polledo had been arguing over items that needed to be thrown out when Rodriguez Polledo suddenly said, “What the f— are you looking at? You’ll see what I have for you,” in Spanish, the report said.
Shortly afterward, the victim said Rodriguez Polledo grabbed a machete and swung it at him, striking him with the back of the blade in the shoulder and arm area, according to the report.
Rodriguez Polledo then swung the machete a second time, and the victim blocked it with his hand, which resulted in a three-inch-deep laceration on his wrist, the report said.
A physical struggle followed, and a witness who attempted to grab the machete was also cut in the process.
Fire rescue crews transported the victim to a local hospital for treatment.
Officers later found the machete in the back of the home with blood on it.
Rodriguez Polledo was arrested and booked into jail. He appeared before a judge on Thursday, who ordered him held without bond.
