Snapchat Messages Lead To Arrest Of Slidell Man Accused Of Raping 12-year-old Girl

The East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office apprehended a Slidell man accused of raping a 12-year-old girl after investigators discovered Snapchat messages between the two on the child’s device.

According to arrest documents, Lemarkis Harry, 32, was brought into custody on Sunday. The child told detectives she had been speaking with Harry for around two months before reportedly confessing to having intercourse with him.

According to investigators, Snapchat records from January 1 to March 12 show Harry allegedly discussing sexual actions with the minor and sending several explicit photographs. According to the arrest records, Harry first told the girl he was 13 years old before providing her with a phone number so that they could communicate beyond Snapchat.

According to detectives, Harry once asked the youngster how old she was after viewing a school progress report and, when she told him she was 12, cautioned her not to lie again.

According to the records, deputies believe surveillance video caught Harry’s vehicle moving from Slidell to the child’s residence in Baton Rouge on January 11.

According to arrest documents, on March 4, after the kid informed Harry that she had been raped, he allegedly cautioned her that a rape kit could reveal his DNA and ordered her not to mention his identity.

Harry was arrested on allegations of first-degree rape, indecent behavior with children, computer-aided solicitation of a minor, and obstruction of justice.
