LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Louisville Metro Police issued more than 60 citations over the weekend following multiple incidents along Bardstown Road.
According to LMPD, most citations were related to open alcoholic containers in public, public intoxication, and people blocking traffic.
Videos circulating on social media showed large crowds gathering along the busy roadway on both Friday and Saturday nights. Footage captured pedestrians stepping into the street, dancing in front of vehicles, and fights breaking out near Grinstead Drive.
The videos also showed officers responding quickly to restore order.
During a press conference on Tuesday, Mayor Craig Greenberg confirmed that 20 arrests were made in connection with the incidents. LMPD later said the arrests included charges such as disorderly conduct, obstructing police, marijuana possession, and traffic-related offenses.
Greenberg said the city is taking the situation seriously and is focused on maintaining public safety.
“We’re going to work even harder to make sure that happens,” he said.
Police said maintaining a visible presence along the Bardstown Road corridor is part of their effort to address what they described as “unsafe behavior.”
Officials also expressed appreciation for officers who took proactive steps to manage the situation and keep the area under control throughout the weekend.
