Fern Creek officials say a family pet also received aid using a specially designed oxygen mask.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A fire near Cedar Creek and Mount Washington sent one person to the hospital Friday.
According to Fern Creek Fire & EMS, firefighters from Fern Creek responded along with crews from Okolona Fire and Fairdale Fire to the 1100 block of Rocky Road at about 1:20 p.m.
When crews arrived, they found a home heavily engulfed in flames. One person was taken to a local hospital, while a family pet was treated using an oxygen mask.
About 25 firefighters brought the fire under control within 20 minutes of arriving at the scene.
Fern Creek Fire & EMS said the home suffered heavy damage, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
