FRANKFORT, Ky. (FOX 56) — A southern Indiana woman has been convicted of defrauding Kentucky’s Medicaid program out of nearly $71,000.

Attorney General Russell Coleman announced Tuesday, Feb. 24, that Sylvia Townsend-Marlow, 56, of Corydon, was convicted on two counts of presenting fraudulent claims to defraud Kentucky’s Medical Assistance Program and five counts of second-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument.

According to the attorney general’s office, Townsend-Marlow submitted falsified timesheets to the Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Family Services over a two-year period and collected nearly $71,000.

“Every dollar stolen through Medicaid fraud is a dollar taken from someone in need, and those who commit fraud must and will be held accountable,” Coleman said.

The court sentenced her to five years of probation and ordered her to pay $70,838.91 in restitution.
