LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A new independent bookstore and wine café is set to open this spring in Louisville’s NuLu neighborhood.

Yer Mom’s Bookstore & Wine Café will debut inside the NuLu Marketplace North development on East Main Street, offering books, wine and a creative gathering space for the community.

The concept blends an independent bookstore with a wine bar and café atmosphere, along with a co-working space called Green House Work Space. The business plans to operate daily from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The venture is led by Tara Leigh Goode, co-founder of Fleur de Lis Communications and vice president of strategic partnerships at Climavision. Goode, who holds a degree in English and creative writing, said the project reflects a long-standing passion for literature and the arts.

“I’ve always had this passion for art and communication,” Goode told Louisville Business First. “While I work in these highly technical fields, I’ve always been percolating on this bookstore wine café idea in the back of my mind.”

The bookstore plans to host author talks, readings and small library-style events in collaboration with Louisville’s writing and publishing community.

Goode noted that independent bookstores have experienced a resurgence in recent years, often stabilizing their business models by pairing book sales with complementary offerings such as wine or café service.

Before opening, the business is gathering community input online to help shape inventory and offerings.

What to Expect

  • Approximately 3,000 square feet for the bookstore and wine café on the first floor

  • About 4,500 square feet upstairs dedicated to Green House Work Space

  • 11 private offices for individuals or small teams

NuLu Marketplace North is envisioned as a tech-forward hub featuring Louisville-based technology companies, coworking and incubator space, a 50-person event venue, a podcast studio, press conference room, extended-stay housing and a pedestrian walkway connecting the two NuLu marketplace developments.

The addition of Yer Mom’s Bookstore & Wine Café is expected to further expand NuLu’s mix of retail, creative and entrepreneurial spaces.
