LEXINGTON, Ky. (FOX 56) — Several school districts across central Kentucky will be closed on Monday, Feb. 2, as communities continue cleanup efforts following last weekend’s snowstorm.
Fayette County Public Schools announced the cancellation of all classes, citing ongoing winter weather and unsafe road conditions. The decision follows the district’s move to cancel all weekend activities on Friday.

“Please stay tuned for a decision on after-school and evening activities,” FCPS said in a statement. Families can review the district’s weather guidelines on its website.
Jessamine County Schools also declared a snow day for Monday. District officials explained that, despite extensive cleanup efforts by custodial, maintenance, and transportation teams, along with contracted snow removal crews, roads and school parking lots remain hazardous.
“Despite the amazing efforts of our custodial, maintenance, and transportation crews this past week and weekend… we are, unfortunately, not able to return to school tomorrow,” the district said.
Officials added that warmer temperatures and sunshine expected on Monday should help melt remaining ice.
Childcare services will open at 8:30 a.m. for families who are already registered. Coaches and sponsors will communicate directly with students regarding practices, events, and activities.
