KENTUCKY — Several school districts and government offices across Kentucky have announced closures, virtual learning days, and delayed openings for Thursday, Jan. 16, 2026, due to infrastructure problems and other operational issues. Schools outside Kentucky are not included.
In Bell County, Middlesboro Independent Schools will continue virtual instruction through Jan. 16. Thursday will count as NTI Days 2 and 3 for students.
Robertson County Schools will also operate virtually through Thursday, marking NTI Days 4 and 5 for the district.
Boyd County Public Schools announced a full closure Thursday because of an ongoing water main issue at Ponderosa Elementary School. The day will count as NTI Day 5 for both students and staff.
In northern Kentucky, Campbell County Schools will open on a two-hour delay Thursday. Newport Grammar School will also operate on a two-hour delay.
Scott County Schools will open two hours late on Thursday.
Jefferson County Government offices will open late Thursday, though individual department schedules may differ.
As of publication, no additional details were available for Union County Schools.
