KENTUCKY — Numerous school districts across Kentucky have announced closures, virtual learning days, and schedule adjustments for Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2025, as winter conditions and operational concerns impact in-person instruction.

Several districts will close schools and observe Non-Traditional Instruction (NTI) days, allowing students to complete coursework remotely.

Bath County Schools will operate under virtual learning for NTI Day No. 2, while Bath County Head Start will be closed. Bourbon, Estill, Floyd, Harrison, Lewis, Madison, Mason, Menifee, Morgan, Rowan, and Wolfe counties will also close schools Tuesday, with most districts designating the day as NTI.

Harrison County reported Tuesday will mark its fourth NTI day, while Wolfe County will observe NTI Day No. 1. Robertson County Schools will be closed for a traditional snow day.

Several Head Start programs — including those in Fleming, Lewis, Mason, Menifee, Morgan, and Rowan counties — will also be closed.

Fleming County and Lawrence County Schools will transition to virtual learning, while Christian Academy of Madison will offer online instruction. Canaan Community Academy will remain closed.

In nearby areas affecting Kentucky families, Salem Community Schools and West Washington Schools will operate on a two-hour delay, while Madison Consolidated Schools will close for in-person classes and provide virtual instruction only.

Families are encouraged to monitor district websites and official communication channels for updates on assignments, transportation, and any additional schedule changes.
