LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) — The Jefferson County Coroner has identified the man who was shot and killed by Louisville Metro Police officers earlier this month.
Louisville police said the officer-involved shooting occurred on Dec. 4, 2025, in the 9000 block of Red Deer Circle, off Taylorsville Road in the City of Hurstbourne Acres. Officers responded around 1:30 p.m. to a report of a man pointing a gun at a woman. The caller described the suspect as a white man who was not wearing a shirt.
Police said officers located a man near the scene at approximately 1:55 p.m. who matched the description and was armed with a gun.
The two officers instructed the man to drop his weapon. When he did not comply, both officers fired their weapons, striking the suspect.
Officers attempted to provide first aid, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene. The coroner identified him as 32-year-old Casey Barnes.
The officers involved were not injured.
