LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A Louisville Metro Office of Inspector General investigator has been arrested for allegedly shooting a man near the Heritage Creek neighborhood.

Officers responded to a shooting in the 8700 block of Warbler Branch Way just before 11 p.m. on Saturday. The victim was shot in the arm and taken to UofL Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Court documents reveal that the incident began with a verbal argument between the victim and Tracy Carter. As the victim attempted to leave in his vehicle, Carter reportedly struck the front windshield while snow made it difficult for him to drive away. Carter then fired shots at the vehicle from the garage. When the victim exited to confront her, she admitted to shooting him in the arm, according to police.

Carter started her criminal justice career in 2018 as a probation and parole officer with the Kentucky Department of Corrections before joining the Louisville Metro Office of Inspector General as an investigator.

She has been booked into Metro Corrections and is scheduled for arraignment on Monday. Carter faces initial charges of assault – domestic violence.
