“Don’t mess with my food, just don’t.”
No matter how strict the rules or security measures, some people will always try to game the system — often at the expense of others. Sadly, innocent people sometimes end up paying the price for others’ dishonesty.
That’s what happened when a DoorDash driver in Kentucky delivered pizzas to a customer who later claimed that each pizza was missing a slice. Oddly enough, all three pizzas were missing just about one-quarter of a single slice.
A Reddit user, PerspectiveObvious87, shared the story on the r/doordash_drivers subreddit. According to the post, the driver had delivered four pizzas to a hospital. After the delivery, they received a message from the customer along with a photo showing a missing slice.
The driver told the customer to contact the pizza restaurant, explaining that DoorDash drivers are not permitted to open or tamper with food containers. This suggested that if anything went wrong, it likely happened at the restaurant.
Some commenters asked whether the pizza boxes had tamper-proof seals. The driver confirmed they did, but noted that the seals were slightly damaged, which may have led the customer to suspect foul play.
“Is the customer trying to imply that a driver keeps a solid cutting board and a pizza cutter in their car to steal a fourth of one piece of pizza?” one commenter, Demonshaker, joked.
The driver responded,
“That is what the customer implied!! I was like whoooooooo has time for that? Can you imagine!?!”
The shape of the missing slice made the story even stranger. It looked as if someone had cut between two existing slices to create a new one, while the pizza still showed eight full slices. The cut appeared almost surgical — something unlikely to happen in a car without proper tools.
Several users mentioned a past scandal involving a popular pizza chain accused of using leftover slices to assemble “new” pizzas, which sometimes led to mismatched slices of different sizes and colors.
Hopefully, once the customer contacts DoorDash support, the company will investigate and determine what really happened. For now, most online agree — it’s highly unlikely a delivery driver would risk their job for a fraction of a pizza slice.
