An Alabama woman was sentenced to 15 years and one day in prison for throwing acid at a friend who provided her a place to live.
Quicheay Williams received the sentence after being convicted of first-degree assault in connection with the February 2025 attack on Jasmine Clausell. Prosecutors from the Mobile County District Attorney’s Office had sought the judge for the maximum sentence of 20 years in prison.
According to evidence presented in an August trial, Clausell invited Williams into her home as a courtesy when Williams needed a place to stay. About two weeks later, Clausell requested that Williams vacate. Williams became enraged and, before leaving, hurled a chemical substance at Clausell.
Clausell suffered third-degree burns on her entire body as a result of the attack. A jury later found Williams guilty of first-degree assault.
“Jasmine Clausell opened her home to someone she considered a friend, and that kindness was met with a horrific act of violence,” Mobile County District Attorney Keith Blackwood stated after the sentencing. “Today’s punishment makes Williams responsible for the catastrophic devastation she inflicted. Our prayers are with Jasmine as she continues to deal with the aftermath of this incident.”
