Man implicated in fatal Montgomery County crash taken into custody nearly 10 months after initial warrant was issued.
Christopher Allen, a Volusia County defendant, was sentenced to 25 years in prison, followed by 10 years on probation. He pled no contest to Burglary of a Dwelling while Armed with a Firearm and Wearing a Mask, two counts of Aggravated Assault (Firearm) (while Wearing a Mask), Tampering with Physical Evidence, and Possession of Firearm by Convicted In-State Felon (while Wearing a Mask).
On December 1, 2025, Allen went to his ex-girlfriend’s DeLand house with a gun and a ski mask, tricking her into opening the door.
Allen pointed the gun at the woman and backed her into the house. When she shrieked that he had a gun, her ex-husband armed himself and rushed to her help. After many attempts to get the defendant to relinquish his gun, he shot him in the arm.
Allen then rushed away, leaving the rifle and ski mask in his wake. The defendant was apprehended a few streets away from the incident thanks to the Volusia Sheriff’s Office Air One and Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission K9 handlers working together.
“Another violent felon off our streets for a quarter-century,” State Attorney R.J. Larizza said of the case. “The protection of you and your family is your prosecutors’ top priority. When you get the opportunity, express your gratitude for their efforts.”
The Central Florida crime was investigated by the DeLand Police Department with help from the Volusia Sheriff’s Office, Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement. Assistant State Attorney Nicholas Kramperth successfully prosecuted the case for the State of Florida. The Honorable Karen Foxman heard the case and gave a sentence.
