A Georgia couple, fixated on serial killers according to prosecutors, strangled a 19-year-old exotic dancer, cut up her body, and consumed part of it, authorities allege.
According to court records reviewed by Oxygen, Katelyn Goble received a life sentence without parole for malice murder, along with concurrent 10-year terms for evidence tampering and concealing the death of Morgan Bauer.
Her attorney, Ifeoluwa R. Ben-Shidah, confirmed to Oxygen that Goble’s defense team has requested a new trial.
Back in 2024, Goble’s former partner Jonathan “Alexander” Warren , who prosecutors said had sex with Bauer’s body , entered a guilty plea to the same charges plus necrophilia. He is likewise serving life without the possibility of parole.
“She has not shown a single bit of remorse through the entirety of this ordeal,” a prosecutor told Newton County Judge Joe Bishop at sentencing. “The heinous nature of this crime and how incredibly despicable it is, shows that she does not deserve to see the outside of the prison walls ever.”
Georgia teen Morgan Bauer disappeared in 2016. Years passed before her killers, Katelyn Goble and Jonathan Alexander Warren, faced justice.
Goble’s lawyer added, “Right now, the world sees her as a devil and understandably, from what came out. But there’s people that know her as someone that’s genuine, that’s sweet, that’s kind, that’s a loving mother that takes care of her grandmother.”
Bauer, who worked as an exotic dancer, was last spotted at the Tease strip club in Atlanta on Feb. 25, 2016, fewer than two weeks after relocating to Georgia from South Dakota, Atlanta police said. She remained missing for seven years until Goble’s estranged husband disclosed to law enforcement that Goble had admitted to helping discard Bauer’s remains, per CourtTV.
Investigators were then directed by Goble to the charred, dismembered remains at the Porterdale home she shared with Warren.
Court testimony indicated that Goble, herself an exotic dancer, had befriended Bauer and offered her temporary housing before Goble and Warren killed her.
“But it didn’t stop there,” Assistant District Attorney Bailey Wilkinson stated, according to WSB-TV. “Over several days, they mutilated Morgan’s body, they beheaded her, and they dismembered her.”
Bauer’s body was stuffed into a suitcase and set on fire afterward, per Warren’s arrest warrant seen by Oxygen.com.
“Alex essentially wanted a threesome with Katelyn and Morgan, but they were like, ‘No, that’s not going to happen,'” Goble’s attorney told the court on Aug. 29. “So, Katelyn leaves the room and…she sees Alex on top of Morgan. Katelyn freaks out, she just kind of leaves the room. Some time passes…and she sees that unfortunately, Alex has killed her.”
Goble’s defense argued that she wanted to contact police but Warren forbade it, and she went along out of fear, subsequently aiding in the disposal of the body.
Prosecutors, however, maintained that the pair acted in concert.
“The evidence will show that although it doesn’t matter who exactly killed Morgan Bauer, that it was their plan together,” Newton County Deputy Chief Assistant District Attorney Bailey Wilkinson said, per CourtTV. “This was something that they wanted to enjoy together.
Goble allegedly viewed Bauer as “the perfect victim” to satisfy her purported fixation with death, serial killers, and dismemberment, prosecutors claimed. They highlighted Goble’s alleged ties to Satanism and said evidence indicated she believed she had struck a bargain with the “Duke of the Underworld” to “sell her soul.”
Following the killing, the couple waited for Bauer’s blood to clot before severing her limbs, prosecutors alleged, noting that Warren later told police he and Goble had eaten Bauer’s clitoris. Prosecutors also stated that Warren had intercourse with Bauer’s corpse before the pair stuffed her remains into a suitcase and burned it in the backyard.
Bauer’s stepmother spoke to the court during the sentencing.
“The dignity Morgan lost during death is truly heartbreaking,” she said. “She was a stripper for two weeks. She was our child for 19 years. All we have are the beautiful memories that we hang onto and the horrific details explained to us.”
