A 58-year-old Venice man was sentenced to nearly 93 years in prison on Friday after being convicted of dozens of child exploitation offenses, according to local officials.
Salvatore Giunta was sentenced to 92.75 years in prison on September 4 after being convicted in March of 83 charges of possessing child sexual abuse material (CSAM).
The case began in January 2024, when investigators from the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Unit commenced an investigation into the transmission and possession of unlawful material in the county. Investigators concluded that Giunta was the major suspect after conducting their investigation.
In April 2024, officers executed a search warrant at Giunta’s Venice home, leading to his arrest on 40 charges of CSAM possession. Authorities then filed an additional 43 counts. In March 2026, Giunta was found guilty of all 83 charges.
While those exact counts were associated with 83 photographs, investigators reported that thousands of more files containing child sexual abuse material were located during the investigation.
“This case is another example of the important work performed every day by our ICAC Unit and Digital Forensics Lab to identify offenders who exploit children and hold them accountable,” the Sheriff’s Office of Sarasota County said. “We also thank the State Attorney’s Office for its dedication in prosecuting this case and helping ensure Giunta will no longer have the opportunity to victimize children in our community.”
