A Texas couple is charged with various firearms offenses after Tewksbury police say a hotel-room call led officers to a cache of weapons, ammo, and explosives. Francho Bradley and Adrianne Jennings, both from Frisco, Texas, were arrested after police say they discovered high-powered firearms in their hotel room and then in their vehicle.
The case began on Saturday, when Bradley allegedly called police and reported that someone was attempting to break into the room. After searching the room, investigators got a warrant for the couple’s car.
Tewksbury police reported that the hotel room had a bump stock, a silencer, and numerous long weapons wrapped in a flight suit. According to authorities, the weapons cache warranted a more thorough search of the couple’s things.
Officers then focused on the vehicle associated with Bradley and Jennings. Police claimed they required a warrant to search it, which resulted in a second set of discoveries that broadened the investigation outside the room itself.
Police said the automobile search uncovered other weapons and supplies, such as more firearms, ammo, large-capacity feeding systems, and several explosive devices. The equipment cited by investigators included an AK-47, an AR-15 with a grenade launcher, a large-capacity shotgun, and a second bump stock.
Officials also stated that there were many rounds of ammo. The combination of firearms and explosive devices contributed to the case fast becoming a severe criminal matter, with authorities documenting the inventory following the search.
When confronted with the guns, Bradley made bizarre assertions, according to investigators. He allegedly said that he was working for a covert government agency and that the weapons were required for his assignment.
According to a police report acquired by the Lowell Sun, Bradley reportedly told authorities that he couldn’t explain what he did for work or why he was carrying so many guns, but claimed he was in the region working for a government agency dealing with a virus. Police have not confirmed if any of the assertions were verified.
The FBI has been called in to assist with the investigation, including determining whether Bradley’s claims regarding a federal assignment are real. This review looks to be part of a larger probe concerning why the couple kept such a substantial armory in Massachusetts.
Middlesex County prosecutors say they do not feel there is a threat to public safety. Nonetheless, the suspicions of guns and explosive devices have kept the investigation ongoing as police work to piece together the facts surrounding the arrest.
Bradley and Jennings are being held until their next court appearance on Friday in Lowell, Massachusetts. Officials have not revealed any other information about the case other than the charges, the firearms confiscated, and the FBI’s involvement.
The arrest adds a new element to a case that began with a suspected break-in and soon developed into a huge firearms confiscation. Investigators are still seeking to ascertain why the pair possessed the guns and whether Bradley’s account is accurate.
