At least one person has died and seven others were taken to area hospitals after a rollover crash on Interstate 57 Sunday.
According to Illinois State Police, the incident occurred just before 6 p.m. in the highway’s inbound lanes near 147th Street in suburban Harvey.
According to preliminary investigations, one vehicle was involved in the incident, with at least eight persons inside.
According to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office, a 6-month-old baby was transported to a nearby hospital and pronounced deceased following the incident.
At least seven people were also hospitalized, although there was no immediate word on their condition.
The roadway and the expressway’s entrance ramp from 147th Street were stopped for several hours as the collision was investigated.
No other information was given, and the route has since reopened.
