A Pennsylvania man wanted for violently assaulting a woman in June was apprehended at a hospital, where he was discovered as a patient under an assumed name.
David Cochran, 43, of Greensburg, Westmoreland County, is facing more than a dozen charges, including aggravated assault and kidnapping, stemming from an incident on June 10 in McKeesport, Allegheny County.
According to Allegheny County Sheriff Kevin Kraus, a woman told authorities that Cochran became enraged that she was in a residence when he arrived and broke a mirror over her face, resulting in a laceration above her eye.
Cochran hit the woman multiple times, cracking her nose and knocking out a tooth, she told authorities.
She claimed Cochran then used electrical tape to tie her, pushed a knife on her rib cage, and tried to strangle her with an extension wire.
When another female attempted to interfere, Cochran threatened to kill them both and locked the second woman in her bedroom before departing.
Kraus said his agency discovered Cochran was visiting someone at Allegheny General Hospital on Tuesday, but detectives identified him as a patient there using an alias and arrested him.
Kraus said Cochran was also issued three warrants from Allegheny County and one from Westmoreland County.
