A Chicago man has pled guilty to attempted murder after pursuing and shooting another guy after a fight outside a Chinatown bar last year. Terris Williams, 32, received an eight-year term after tendering her plea before Judge Steven Watkins, according to court records.
On February 9, 2025, about closing time, Chicago cops responded to reports of shots fired in the 400 block of West 24th Street. According to CPD, a 35-year-old male got into a confrontation with multiple people, pepper spray was used inside the club, and someone shot out the glass of a security guard’s car. The brawl eventually ended, and the gang dispersed.
However, Williams chose to continue the case, according to prosecutors. According to the claims, Williams pulled a pistol from his friend’s pants and chased the victim outside the club, threatening to “end [his] life.” Williams fired several shots at the man, hitting him in the right buttocks.
Williams remained at the site when police arrived. Officers observed him opening a car door, leaning inside, then standing back up and immediately closing it. Police then discovered a firearm on the car’s floorboard that was the same caliber as the weapon used in the shooting, according to prosecutors.
Williams must serve 85 percent of his sentence. His estimated release date is November 21, 2031.
