An 18-year-old man has been taken into custody and charged with double murder after two people were discovered dead inside an Attala County home on Sunday afternoon, authorities said.
On Monday, August 31, 2026, Isaiah Reeves surrendered to police enforcement, escorted by his attorney. He is charged with two charges of first-degree murder in the murders of Johnny Ray Reeves II (38), and Nicole Massey (39). Curtis Pope, the Attala County Sheriff, confirmed that the suspect is Johnny Ray Reeves II’s nephew.
The inquiry began Sunday at 4:58 p.m., when deputies and emergency medical professionals arrived to a residence in the Zama neighborhood. A guest arrived at the house and saw the man and female residents unresponsive inside, so he dialed 911.
Attala County Coroner Sam Bell recognized the victims and announced that their remains had been transferred to the Mississippi State Crime Lab for examinations to ascertain the exact cause of death.
Isaiah Reeves is now being incarcerated in the Leake County Correctional Facility under a $2 million bond.
The Mississippi Bureau of inquiry and the Attala County Sheriff’s Office are cooperating on the inquiry.
